On March 4 we had more turbulence in Google search, a possible update to Google search ranking at the time. Google’s John Mueller said they sped up the SafeSearch filter’s classification process. Ironically, the translated indexing issue we talked about last week was from the Google Cloud team. Google said the indexing problems may be related to old spam, but probably not old adult content. Google said it ignores widget links, so why bother? An SEO claims that content outside of hidden tabs will result in higher rankings, despite what Google says. Google posted how they discover content within videos today. The folks at Google also ask can it be displayed two or more times on a search results page. Does having subdomains give you a better chance of having more indented grouped results in Google Search? Google web stories tests the URL on the outside and the instructions. Google’s Danny Sullivan corrected Andrew Yang and Ramesh Srinivasan on how search works. John Mueller gave an SEO newbie a lesson on links. Google Search Center virtual unconference registration opens on March 17 and the event is on March 23. Google Shopping has a filter to only see products from smaller stores. Google Ads is testing grayed out parts of URLs. Microsoft Advertising launched professional services ads and Microsoft Advertising Editor got audience network support. Google Search also added Jewish Shabbat times to search. And if you want to help sponsor those vlogs, go to patreon.com/barryschwartz. That was the search news this week at the Search Engine Roundtable.
