The State of Technical SEO Report 2023 is out from digital agency Aira and the Women in Tech SEO community. So what will matter in 2023? Here is a quick summary of some of the most interesting results.
Resources matter. The major obstacle identified by the report was the lack of resources of the organization. A lack of resources means changes aren’t made or are made too late – which means less than stellar SEO results. So if you work in a company that lacks training, prioritizing work will continue to be very important.
Tools and technology are important. Google Search Console is the most popular tool for general SEO – 92% reported use. The top tool was used (78%) for measuring research results.
Screaming Frog SEO Spider is a popular choice for crawling and analyzing SEO files. Currently, Semrush is the top choice for visual inspection of a website.
For non-commercial advertising, SEO specialists prefer to work on WordPress. Wix was thought to be the most difficult to work with.
Time is important. Sadly, months of waiting for technical SEO changes to happen is common – 88% of respondents waited anywhere from a month to 24+ months for technical SEO changes to be made.
Perhaps this is surprising: 22% reported waiting only a month for specific SEO changes to be implemented. Meanwhile, 20% reported waiting for 12 months (which dropped slightly from last year). And 11% of respondents reported waiting 24 months or more.
