Google Helpful Content Update Report September 2, 2022 – By SEO expert Qamar Zaman

I prefer to see Google rank original news first, says Qamar Zaman. Many website builders use WP-auto plugins and game the system.

Dallas, Sept. 03, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Eight days after Google began rolling out the Useful Content Update, Qamar Zaman and his team at KISS PR, a website development company in Texas, haven’t seen a significantly high SERP (search engine results page) volatility figures yet except for news websites. As of September 2, 2022, websites in the News category are losers according to the SEM RUSH sensor.

A high SERP volatility score for news content is understandable and expected. According to Zaman, the relevance of news content depends on time.

“The news you read yesterday is less relevant today. The freshest news is the most relevant content, and that’s what search engines like Google will rank high on SERPs,” Zaman explained.

In a recent tweet from Danny Sullivan, “The update is not complete. It’s also part of an ongoing effort, as we’ve explained. We’ll continue to refine how it works. In a nutshell, the guidance we’ve provided is what SEOs and creators should consider.” According to SEM sensor data RUSH, as of September 2, 2022, these are the top 10 categories with the highest SERP volatility. Zaman wanted to point out that apart from News, the other nine categories on this list have average ratings.

The news SERP volatility score is 0.7 lower compared to yesterday. It’s also worth noting that its worst performance came not after the rollout of the useful content update, but before it, around the second week of August.

Rank 2: Art & Fun

Today’s SERP volatility score in this category is 0.6 lower than yesterday’s. Same with News; its highest SERP volatility score occurred in the second week of August, more than two weeks before Google rolled out useful content.

The sports SERP volatility score improved today compared to the past few days. That is 1.0 less than yesterday’s result.

Today’s gaming SERP volatility score is 0.4 lower compared to yesterday’s. After Google’s useful content update, there is no significant difference in ranking between websites in this category.

Same with games, there is no significant change in SERP volatility score with online communities after the introduction of Google’s useful content update. Although today’s result is 0.3 lower than yesterday’s, this change is considered negligible.

Its SERP Volatility Score is down 1.0 compared to yesterday. As with other categories, shopping websites don’t seem to have been negatively affected by Google’s useful content update yet.

Rank 7: Business & Industrial

Its SERP volatility rating is down 1.1 compared to yesterday. This category maintains a good score after the introduction of Google’s useful content update.

Home & Garden’s SERP volatility score is 1.1 lower today than yesterday. Same with the other categories, they don’t seem to be negatively affected by Google’s useful content update yet.

This is another category without significant SERP volatility activity in the last eight days. His rating today is 0.8 lower than yesterday.

Finance has a stable SERP volatility rating as it has not gone above 3.7 since the introduction of Google’s useful content update. His rating today is 1.3 lower than yesterday.

Zaman and his team are optimistic about today’s SERP volatility performance according to SEM RUSH sensor data. Expect rolling changes next week after the rollout of Google’s useful content update is complete. Since this update is not a core update, Google wants creators to follow the guidelines as more impact will occur when the update is fully supported in Google’s ranking ecosystem. As a creator of news content

“I prefer to see Google rank original news first. Currently, content scrapers and aggregators devalue the work of original news publishers. Many website builders use WP-auto plugins that analyze content, remove attribution, and create duplicate versions of existing news. This means that valuable the individuals who actually create this new content don’t get the credit or traffic they deserve because low quality spinoffs rank higher in search results. We’ve notified Google about this multiple times and the response we keep getting is vague Qamar Zaman

“We just have to wait and see,” Zaman said.
